Jim Gallagher

Jim has extensive experience delivering projects across Ireland and the UK, having spent much of the nineties practicing as a design and project architect in London, working on a range of office, healthcare and residential projects.

In addition to his strong sectoral knowledge in commercial, retail, leisure, residential, hotel and healthcare design, Jim’s particular expertise is delivering innovative and practical design solutions that achieve maximum income or capital return on existing assets or new developments. He combines a sound knowledge of Planning and Regulatory issues with a thorough understanding of commercial, stakeholder and end-user requirements.

A former Chairman of the Technical & Construction Issues Committee, Jim is currently a Council Member of Property Industry Ireland. Jim is widely networked and trusted within the property sector.

Michael Hinshelwood

Michael is a Director of ALTU with an extensive body of design and construction experience in Ireland.

He has been with ALTU since its inception in 1997 (formerly Lafferty Architects) and has a track record in shopping centre architecture as well as comprehensive experience in healthcare, residential and mixed-use developments.

An expert in commercial office delivery, Michael has completed projects for Siemens, DZ Bank, SEB, Ancestry.com, ESB and the HSE. Michael is also the designated Quality Manager for the Practice and leads the internal QMS Working Group within ALTU.

Oliver Nolan

Oliver is a Director of ALTU Architects and an award-winning designer who has completed a significant number of projects across a wide range of building types and scales. Oliver’s work demonstrates a proven ability to understand and interpret complex briefs and to deliver innovative and cost-effective design solutions in the Office, Retail, Leisure, Residential and Commercial Sectors.

With Significant master planning experience, Oliver is passionate about considered Urban Regeneration, which is evident in his design approach, a strong Design Team Leader he brings a collaborative and delivery focused discipline to clients projects.

Tom Mulligan

Tom is a Director of ALTU Architects and is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Architects (RIAI).

He has an extensive body of design experience and has completed a significant number of projects across a wide range of industries, building types and scales including Retail, Residential, Mixed-use, Industrial and Leisure, Industrial, Aviation and Stadia, notably the new Limerick Racecourse, Curragh Racecourse and Leinster Stadium Competition.

Tom has won numerous RIAI awards and has been shortlisted in several design competitions, including the RIAI Best Contribution Award to Urban Design.

Ralph Specylak

Ralph is a Regional Director with ALTU and manages our Worclaw Office in Poland. He brings to the Practice an award winning and extensive body of design experience in master planning, project implementation and site operations.

Before joining ALTU, Ralph established Kameleon Lab, an innovative boutique architectural practice known for its design quality, commitment and for an approach based on careful analysis, completing award winning projects throughout Europe and the Middle-East.

As part of the ALTU team, Ralph has been able to contribute his advanced design experience to many of the Practice’s large scale Office, Retail, Commercial and Residential projects.

Jack Byrne

Jack is an award winning Architect with over 9 years of industry experience. Jack studied Architecture in Waterford Technical University graduating with honours in 2014 and completed his professional RIAI Chartership through Dublin Technical University in 2016,  and was selected to present his Thesis which explored the transition from public to private space in the urban environment at the 2015 Irish Architectural Thesis Symposium.
Since joining ALTU in 2014 Jack has been lead architect on projects across a wide range of sectors and scales. Notably Jack designed and delivered Pembroke Square which has been awarded:
– Building & Architect of the Year Awards 2022 – Category Winner: Building Refurbishment for a Single Building or Development
– RIAI Architecture Awards 2021: Sustainability – Highly Commended
– RIAI Architecture Awards 2021: Adaptation & Re-Use – Selected for Exhibition

Jack has also designed and delivered over 250,000 sq ft of Office Fit-out for clients such as Facebook, Hammerson, Prometric, Hasbro and Boulder Media.

Michael Harty

Michael is an Associate Director with Altu Architects and is a Registered Architect with over 25 years experience. He possesses a broad range of experience with particular expertise in the design and construction delivery of multi unit residential schemes. Michael’s strong technical knowledge and attention to detail ensures that the design of apartment/PRS buildings build-in efficiencies through the Planning Stage that then manifest through the detailed design and construction phase.
Michael has been lead project architect through the detail design, tender and construction phase of many mixed use and residential developments. Through experience Michael is aware that the Architect must take a hands-on lead in coordinating the inputs of the design team to ensure a successful project delivery.

Suzanne Bailie

Suzanne Bailie has over 20 years experience in the construction industry, during which time she has worked on a wide range of commercial and residential projects with Altu.
She has amassed a specialism from her extensive involvement on workplace projects within the Practice – both new build and fit-out. Suzanne’s passion for anticipating interior design and functional trends informs every aspect of her work. She is sharply decisive in her capability to devise and implement holistic design solutions from concept through to individual details, finishes, material palettes and furniture items.
Her extensive knowledge of 3D modelling and advanced CGI and VR software supports the effective and innovative communication of concepts and designs to our clients in a highly engaging manner.

Patrick Tay

Patrick is an Associate and Senior Architect at ALTU and is a talented designer who brings immense experience, creativity and innovation to his work.

Patrick has delivered several large mixed use and urban design schemes in both Ireland and the UK. Since joining the Practice from his previous role in NMA in 2019, Patrick has played an active role in the development of several large scale residential and SHD schemes within the office, furthering his exemplary planning track record in this area.

Magda Czajkowska

Magda has a Master Degree in Architecture from Wroclaw University of Technology. She is a qualifield architect with 20 years of work experience in the design of commercial, office and residential projects. She worked at all stages of design from concept, planning permission application to construction documentation.
